ArtLab + TeCo from the MCA Denver participate in The Confluence Projectwith PlatteForum Creative Resident Katie Watson Learning Labs: January 11 – March 4, 2010 Exhibition: March 5 - April 4, 2010 at MCA Denver
This residency is the first annual Confluence Project: PlatteForum Creative Residency + MCA Denver
Teens from MCA Denver’s TeCo and PlatteForum’s ArtLab worked with Katie Watson during her eight-week residency to create videos and lenticular photographs for the installation with some time on your hands.. The
installation aims to take visitors on a “factory tour” filled with
fantasy objects. This made-up world consists of multi-lingual signage,
dust-producing appliances, and anti-aging antidotes. Watson’s work
explores the notion of time where fake TV commercials, animated images
and objects evolve both physically and visually over time. Teen videos showcase imaginary anti-aging
products that are be “sold” throughout the installation at the MCA Denver. . The installation blurs the lines between high and low
art with democratic media. Artist statements ArtLab:JoshTucci, Ryan Fraser, Haña Lucero-Colin, Kate Rempel, Miles LaGree, Saira
